Getting started

From a blank dashboard to a class that votes.

Six short videos, in the order a new teacher actually needs them. Every step works on the free plan.

Your first classroom vote

One question, one join code, and your students are voting from their devices in under three minutes.

  1. 1.On the dashboard, type a class name and click Create Session.
  2. 2.Inside the session, click Quick Start and choose Poll.
  3. 3.Type your question and a few options, one per line, then click Go Live.
  4. 4.Put the six-digit join code on the board — or the QR chip for students on phones and tablets. Students join at the site and tap their pick.
  5. 5.Watch the Student Activity panel fill up as votes land.

Run a live vote with confidence

Reveal results when you are ready, pause the room if you need to, and close the poll cleanly.

  1. 1.Click Present to open the projector window — the join code and QR stay on screen for late joiners.
  2. 2.Use the pause switch to freeze voting while you talk; flip it back to resume.
  3. 3.Turn on Show Live Results to reveal the bars as they move, or keep it off for a big reveal.
  4. 4.When everyone has voted, click End Poll. The winner gets the spotlight.

Create your first bracket

Turn any list your class argues about into a head-to-head tournament with one champion.

  1. 1.Inside a session, click Quick Start and choose Bracket.
  2. 2.Type four or eight entrants, one per line. Use Shuffle for random seeding.
  3. 3.Click Go Live, then Open Voting so students can vote on every matchup in the round.
  4. 4.Click Close & Advance to lock the round and move winners forward.
  5. 5.Keep going until the CHAMPION! screen.

Reuse activities across classes

Build it once, run it in every period. Duplicate or move any poll or bracket into another session.

  1. 1.Open the session that has the activity you want to reuse.
  2. 2.Open the activity card menu and choose Duplicate to session... to copy it into another class.
  3. 3.Choose Move to session... instead if you want to relocate it.
  4. 4.Click Student view in the command bar to arrange what students see first.

See what happened and improve

Participation, results, and vote breakdowns for every activity you have run, ready for the next one.

  1. 1.Click Analytics in the left rail.
  2. 2.Pick a session with Select a session..., then switch between Polls and Brackets.
  3. 3.Click View Analytics on any activity for the full breakdown.
  4. 4.Compare periods to decide what to run next.

Taking it further

The features you grow into: simpler screens for younger learners, pictures on every choice, new formats, and help on demand.

  1. 1.In a live bracket's Display Settings, switch every student screen between Simple — one matchup at a time, ideal for younger learners — and Advanced.
  2. 2.In the Student Activity sidebar, flip between Fun animal names and Real names, or collapse the sidebar while projecting.
  3. 3.Click the camera icon on any poll choice or bracket entrant to add an Icon badge or Upload or paste URL… — pictures let pre-readers vote too.
  4. 4.With one live activity, students land straight in it; with more than one, they choose. Light and dark themes work on both teacher and student screens.
  5. 5.When the basics feel easy, try ranked polls, round robin, double elimination, predictive, or sports brackets — and ask Sparky whenever you get stuck.
